East End Veterinary Center (EEVC) welcomes veterinary students to participate in our externship program to learn the superior medicine and culture available at our 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital in Riverhead, NY.
An externship experience in private practice provides a unique opportunity to apply knowledge and skills while working alongside experienced clinicians and board-certified specialists. Hands-on skills that may be practiced or observed include TPR’s, examinations, anesthesia, surgical procedures, catheterization, ultrasound, and other diagnostic procedures as they are available.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at East End Veterinary Center are designed for clinical year students. Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
