East End Veterinary Center utilizes the latest digital X-ray technology on-site for your pet’s diagnostic needs. Our experienced team expertly positions your pet to capture clear and effective X-ray imagery for interpretation and diagnosis. We are proud to partner with a state-of-the-art veterinary telemedicine consulting service staffed by a team of board-certified veterinary radiologists to interpret all X-rays taken at our hospital. This is like having a full-service radiology and diagnostic team right at the tips of your pet’s paws. Leaning on our supportive relationship with these experts, we are able to quickly and effectively receive and discuss the results of a scan, and begin to develop a specialized treatment plan for your pet.
We also offer a full service, state-of-the-art, 24/7 on-site diagnostics laboratory, where we can perform complete blood count (CBC), comprehensive metabolic panel (CMP), and urinalysis tests in minutes. We are also able to quickly evaluate electrolyte, acid-base balance, blood gas and coagulation cascade values in your pet's blood. In an emergency when seconds count, we're able to perform and interpret these crucial tests at any moment to make an accurate diagnosis for your pet.
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medicinal technique used to stimulate the immune system and local nerves, relax muscles, adjust blood and lymph flow, and release endorphins. Many diseases and injuries can benefit from acupuncture including orthopedic diseases (osteoarthritis), neurological conditions (seizures, intervertebral disc problems), gastrointestinal diseases (inflammatory bowel disease, diarrhea, vomiting and constipation), and respiratory problems (asthma and bronchitis). Patients undergoing chemotherapy can also be treated with acupuncture to support the immune system and decrease adverse side effects. At East End Veterinary Center, we have veterinarians experienced and trained in acupuncture for pets, extending this centuries-old, proven holistic medicinal technique to the animal community.
Our blood donor program was established to offer hospitalized pets access to life-saving whole blood products without having to wait for a delivery from the blood bank. Timely treatment can often mean the difference between life and death when pets are faced with a critical injury or illness that requires a whole blood transfusion. We also offer free baseline preliminary blood work to all potential donors. Our program includes both canine and feline blood donors. At this time, we do not use blood obtained from our donors for patients outside of our hospital.

By providing a comfortable and caring atmosphere geared towards helping animals find balance and good health, we strive to increase the recovery speed and mobility potential after surgery, injury, and disease, giving your pet a new lease on life. We utilize proven exercises, stretches and massage geared toward improving mobility, flexibility and minimizing pain for your pet.
All rehabilitation sessions are performed by one of our certified canine rehabilitation practitioners with treatments tailored to meet each pet’s individual needs. With prior visits to our rehab department and careful guidance, we can also create an easy-to-follow and effective home care plan for your pet, keeping in mind your own schedule, abilities, and comfort level.
Physical rehabilitation is not only for post-operative recovery, as it can be also used to stimulate weight loss. Unfortunately, obesity in pets is an extremely common issue and it does not come without its own set of health concerns. Not only does an overweight pet put extra pressure on bones and joints that could result in painful movement, but obesity also adds an unnecessary burden on the heart, which could cause issues down the line. East End Veterinary Center is a fully-staffed, 24-hour emergency and critical care facility for dogs and cats. Equipped with experienced emergency staff and state-of-the-art technology, we are prepared to assist your pet at a moment’s notice. At East End Veterinary Center, an emergency veterinarian is on staff 24 hours a day, 365 days a year--your pet is never alone. While an appointment is not necessary for emergency treatment, a call ahead of time is appreciated so that we can prepare for your arrival and ensure that your pet is seen promptly. We also work in close coordination with your family veterinarian to ensure that your pet receives the collaborative support he or she needs.
If your pet is injured or suddenly develops concerning symptoms, this constitutes a veterinary emergency. Many pets do a good job of hiding pain or discomfort and oftentimes, injuries or sickness can go unnoticed for too long. It is important to act quickly if you feel your pet is not quite acting him or herself, with some common symptoms including: lethargy, reduced appetite, hiding, avoiding putting weight on a limb or side, difficulty breathing, difficulty urinating, weakness, whining, or shaking. If you suspect your pet is suffering from a medical emergency or is demonstrating unusual behavior, please call us immediately at 631-369-4513 or stop in; an experienced staff member will be able to determine whether or not your pet requires treatment.

Canine Platelet Enhancement Therapy (C-PET) is an alternative, non-surgical technique that enhances healing by stimulating stem cells to promote regrowth. A licensed veterinarian will take a blood sample from your pet and run it through a specialized filter, capturing the blood’s valuable platelets (platelets are what allows injuries to clot or "scab"), at a high concentration. Growth factors located on the platelets are pre-cursors to stem cells and when injected into a troublesome joint, have numerous regrowth abilities, working themselves into the joints to improve arthritis, joint degeneration, joint pain, lameness, tissue damage, and more. This therapy is minimally invasive and extremely low-stress for your dog; in most cases, your pet will return home to you the same day with little to no side effects!
